My Opinion on Amendment #2

I strongly support all four amendments to the West Virginia Constitution that will be on the ballot. The Left, using the ‘teachers’ unions, various RINOs, and other allies, are doing everything they can to stop Amendments #2 and #4 in order to put more tax money into the government’s hands, and to increase their control of, indoctrination, and sexualization of our kids.

Amendment #2 would allow the state legislature to reduce our personal property vehicle and business inventory taxes. We have a huge surplus and it is going to grow dramatically every year unless we find a way to reduce it by cutting taxes. I strongly believe in a balanced budget, both in what the government takes in and what it spends. We need to adjust our taxes down to ensure that we are taking in only what is needed, and ensuring money stays with the People and the businesses that employ our People.

Our vehicle taxes are generally significantly higher than states along our borders. In my travels around the district, about 2 out of every 5 vehicles are registered in another state. I’ve heard this is the case throughout much of the state. I believe that reductions in our personal property vehicle tax revenues will not be that large, largely because many more people will register their vehicles in West Virginia vice in other states.

Our business inventory taxes are the worst in the country, and that significantly impacts businesses and new jobs being created or coming into our state. Reducing these business taxes would significantly encourage more businesses to relocate to West Virginia, increasing jobs and actually increasing our tax base and tax revenues. Many businesses keep their inventories in neighboring states because of our business inventory tax. Given my economics background, I frankly believe that elimination of these taxes would probably be close to revenue neutral, given the increase in other business tax revenues. That is what we have seen from almost every significant tax cut in American history.

With the money back in the hands of the People, they will generally use that money to purchase goods which will also increase our sales tax revenues. We need money in the People’s hands, not in the government’s hands. Governments will always find a way to squander excess money, while the People will generally use their money to make their lives better and more livable.

The very corrupt National Education Association has jumped into West Virginia to support its far Left agenda by saying No to Amendments #2 and #4. If the NEA is against it, you can bet it is actually a fantastic idea.
